Tracey Dallahan-McLauchlin, Esq.
Bel Air, MD elder law attorney Tracey Dallahan-McLauchlin

In 1991, Tracey McLauchlin received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with honors, from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. After completion of her undergraduate studies, she earned a certification in paralegal studies from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, New Jersey.

Ms. McLauchlin attended the Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University in Carlisle, Pennsylvania from 1993-1996. While in law school, she pursued a concentration in labor and employment law. She was a member of the Dickinson Law Review and the Woolsack Honor Society and received the Corpus Juris Secundum award for achievement in civil procedure as well as the Cali Excellence for the Future Award for achievements in Alternative Dispute Resolution. While pursuing her studies, Ms. McLauchlin also served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable George E. Hoffer of the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas. Ms. McLauchlin graduated from Dickinson, magna cum laude, in May 1996.

After sitting for the Maryland bar exam, Ms. McLauchlin served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Albert J. Matricciani, Jr. in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. Upon completion of this clerkship, she began a fourteen year career as an employment lawyer at Ferguson, Schetelich & Ballew, P.A. in Baltimore City. Ms. McLauchlin’s practice focused on representation of management in all aspects of labor and employment law including traditional labor issues, Title VII, the Americans With Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, ERISA, the Fair Labor Standards Act, State and Local Fair Employment Practices and Wage Acts, Employment Contracts, and Employee Handbooks. She provided compliance advice and counsel to employers, and when disputes arose, represented her clients in administrative proceedings and in federal and state trial and appellate courts including the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the Maryland Court of Appeals, the Maryland Court of Special Appeals, and Circuit Courts throughout the state.

Seeking a new challenge, the opportunity to work with clients on a personal level and the chance to provide legal assistance to clients within the local community, Ms. McLauchlin embarked upon the next chapter in her career by joining Shaffer Law Office, LLC in the fall of 2009. Her new practice areas include counseling clients in the areas of estate planning, estate administration, and elder law. She continues to utilize her litigation skills representing clients and their families in guardianship proceedings in Maryland’s Circuit Courts.

Ms. McLauchlin is a member of the American Bar Association and the Maryland State Bar Association. She resides in Fallston with her husband and daughters.
